Kabusecha, 50g

Green Tea Platinum Collection

Ships in 24-48 working hours

Ooika means ‘shaded aroma’ in Japanese; an essence of this umami vegetal tea. ‘Kabuseru’
means ‘to shade’ blocking about 50% of direct sunlight for 1 week - 10 days. While in other
shaded teas, the farms are covered; for kabusecha the tea plant itself is shaded before new sprouts emerge.

What makes it great
Originating from the Kagoshima region, the method of shading Kabusecha before new sprouts emerge, lends a distinguished umami character and rare sweetness to this tea. Covering its tea leaves also encourages this tea to have evolved flavour profiles combined with a high proportion of l-theanine, antioxidants and more health benefits that are unique only to shaded green tea! The deep emerald-blue colour notes of this tea are a beholding sight every morning and a trusted resource to improve mental focus and ward of cold.

Taste and Aroma Notes
A striking umami flavour is prominent and makes its way through hints of vegetal and grassy notes to help you gather your happy endorphins!

Multiple Infusions

Don't throw away your tea after steeping it! One of the greatest advantage of drinking whole leaf tea is that each serving of leaves can be re-steeped many times.

This tea can be re-steeped 5 times. We recommend using 4 grams of this whole leaf tea for 150 ml of water
