A unique Japanese green tea that is grown in the shade rather than in half or full sunlight like other varieties, Gyokuro is shaded for about three weeks before the leaves are harvested. It translates to jade dew or jewel dew, referring to the bright green liquor of this tea and caresses your senses just like dewy winds do.
What makes it great
By shading Gyokuro under handmade bamboo or straw mats to cut out 85% of sun rays, unlike other Japanese teas grown in full-sunlight, its leaves attain a deep emerald colour and offer a pleasant sweet taste when infused. Grown in misty climates across sloping hills, the soothing cool nights make for a distinct brew that relaxes with each sip.
Taste and Aroma Notes
Gyokuro has a mellow, sweet taste and elegant aroma. When brewed, the tea color is bright green. Teanin provides an element of sweetness and flavor to the tea.
Multiple Infusions
Don't throw away your tea after steeping it! One of the greatest advantage of drinking whole leaf tea is that each serving of leaves can be re-steeped many times.
This tea can be re-steeped 2 times. We recommend using 4 grams of this whole leaf tea for 150ml of water
150 grams = 75 cups of tea
We recommend returning to any used tea leaves within the day.
