He has spent about twenty-five years of his life studying and mastering the knowledge of tea, after his encounter with the Japanese tradition of serving
tea to every guest. Having learnt about the process of tea production from the farmers of India, Japan, China, South Korea and Taiwan, Jiten has all the
information on tea processing that one would ever need. At the age of fifty, he journeyed up the mountains from Yunnan valley in China to Shizuoka in
Japan in his quest to find the best quality of tea, drawing the title of being a ‘Tea Connoisseur’ to himself. Describing tea as the ‘miracle' plant, his eyes
light up and lips draw into a wide smile as he explains how the experience of blending tea feels like therapy to him.
"I remember waking up at 2 am to blend our Infinity Pool tea, which is now part of our special blends. I have always held the belief that blending tea is not
a process, it's an art. It gives me a very different feeling of tranquillity, something that I wish to extend to all the tea drinkers in the world."
“The art of blending tea is an opportunity for us to douse in the fragrances and delve into botanicals, a chance for us to give a thought to the tea estates
and farmers who have spent endless days only to bring the best produce to us”
Jiten is the co-founder and chief blender at Tasse de Thé, pouring his tea-blending expertise directly into teapots and cups that are inspired by his travels
from around the world.
Green tea being his favourite, Jiten is full of important insights about the health benefits of tea. He speaks about how he saw the Chinese sip their tea
with every meal and live heartily. Jiten speaks of tea like it is a magic potion, laden with umpteen health benefits, it definitely is the quintessential magic
plant!
“The experience of drinking tea is not just about gulping down the drink, it is about experimenting and re-tasting the brew, while pushing your senses to
explore the aromas and flavours. The experience is about trusting your instincts and tasting the true character of tea.”
For him, tea is not just a beverage, but a feeling of holistic wellness, all in a wholesome cup brewed to perfection.
One of his only messages is to share his love of tea because even drinking tea is similar to a therapeutic experience!
